Tonight, we begin our 100 days with Wallace.
He wasn't the story we planned to share first. We were going to begin with Daisy, our very first rescue. But then Wallace needed us - and that is what happens in rescue.
We pivot. Plans change. Needs become urgent. A soul standing right in front of us becomes the story that must be told.Wallace came to the Little Red Barn just today.
It is clear life has not been kind to him. He is much too thin and he had a harness that was way too small embedded in his neck. He has been to the ER to get the first of his medical needs taken care of.
Tonight, he is safe in our care. Learning what that love and peace looks and feels like.Could we have pulled a young easy to adopt dog? We could have. But Wallace is alive today because you all believe, like we do, that those that others throw out and pass over, are worth saving.
That's what this campaign is about. We're sharing 100 rescue stories over 100 days to raise $1.4M to build our dream that is Homestead East in Kansas City. A place that will give a chance and a home to a dog like Wallace who needs someone to believe his life is worth saving.
Tonight we begin 100 days of believing that a dream really can become reality.
The dream is simple: 5,600 people × $250 = $1.4 million to help build Homestead East and reimagine what rescue can be. And for our first 200 $250 donations, every dollar will be matched dollar for dollar.
Already, 40 people have stepped forward. We can do this. One person at a time. One story at a time. One dream at a time.
