And I’m going to piggyback off Jen’s post that animals never replace the ones we’ve lost. They don’t try to. They just find another little space in your heart and fill it in a completely different way. They don’t care who you were yesterday, what mistakes you’ve made, what you look like or what you have. They just meet you exactly where you are and love you from there.

And maybe that’s what all of these souls have been teaching us for the last 9,000 lives.

That rescue can be different

That a shelter doesn’t have to feel like a shelter. It can feel like a home. A place filled with couches and friends and sunshine and second chances. A place where the scared ones get time, the old ones matter, and nobody becomes disposable because they are difficult, expensive or simply ran out of time.

That is Rescue Reimagined. That is our dream.
