Pet Smart Kitties

Sometimes finding furever starts with simply being seen.

Today, Shelby and volunteer JJ are sharing a little about our PetSmart kitty program and the incredible volunteers who make it possible.

Every single day, volunteers visit our PetSmart locations to feed, clean, socialize, play with, and love on the cats in our care.

PetSmart gives these sweet souls something incredibly important: visibility.

Someone may walk in for a bag of dog food and walk out having met the cat they didn't even know was missing from their life.

And it works.

So many of our cats have found their furever families because they were in the right place, at the right moment, for the right person to see them.

But not every kitty thrives in that environment.

Some are shy and scared.

Some need peace and quiet.

Some are FIV+.

Some are mamas raising babies.

Some are recovering from illness.

And some simply need more time and a different kind of space before they can show the world who they really are.

That's where the dream gets bigger.

When Homestead East opens its doors, we have big dreams for our kitties, too.

Tiny homes where mama cats can safely raise their babies.

Dedicated space for FIV+ cats.

Quiet areas for cats who need time to decompress, heal, or learn to trust again.

Places where volunteers can sit with them, love on them, and help them feel safe.

Because Rescue Reimagined isn't just about saving lives.

It's about asking what each individual soul needs to thrive and then doing everything we can to build it.
